In the first of its ‘Art Series Dinners’, Blue Mountains artist and former Sydney Morning Herald cartoonist, Andrew Ireland will be featured. MC, Helen Thomson, will guide the artist and diners through a ‘conversation style’ dinner.
On arrival at the iconic Solitary Restaurant, guests will enjoy a glass of Jansz sparkling wine and canapes on the lawn as the sun sets in the Jamison Valley. A large number of Andrew’s paintings will be featured on the night.
Andrew Ireland hails from Manchester where he studied art and print-making as a young graduate. He emigrated to Australia in 1985, and soon after began work as an illustrator. For 11 years he produced cartoons and illustrations for the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review, The Times on Sunday and The Australian. Andrew’s paintings are at times whimsical and humorous, always thoughtful and occasionally provocative.
Helen Thomson, an acclaimed Australian actress, and Blue Mountains resident, is well known for her many roles in Australian film and television and for her work as one of Australia’s premiere stage actresses with Sydney Theatre Company and Belvoir Street Theatre.
